Hi I am doing a CU change and have 10mm gas bond direct to the MET. There is no conductor back to the MET for water but it is bonded in 10mm and there is continuity back to MET. I know this is acceptable if the conductor is not cut but I know it is, should I run a new 10mm conductor from incoming water to MET or just note it in departures?
Thanks

Assume you are saying that the water is linked from the gas but not continuous?....if so use a crimp lug large enough to take both 10mm cables at the gas, a 25mm lug will do it. Ensure both cables are securely crimped into the same lug, this will meet the requirements.

Thanks WP.The gas is a a recent install and a single 10mm back to the MET. The water has no bond back to the MET but I can see 10mm at the entrance to the property. When I disconnect the 10mm at the stop tap I get good continuity back to the MET but I can't see where it loops to the gas. There is no supplementary bonding. I am sure it is not continuous as the gas is quite recent. So unfortunately can't join them..? So in that case is it a new run? Also this one will be assessed..
Thanks.

So it must be joined somewhere as you have confirmed continuity of the conductor. Out of interest what was the reading of the conductor?

As it is an assement, personally I would run another bond for the water, on assessments the more you do it "to the book" the better, in real life ...............hmmmmmmmmmmmm not saying;):D

No Telectrix it isn't. 0.45ohms Malcolm, thanks and feel as though I should run another to save even having the discussion on the day..!

oops, meaqnt 500 yards. typo'd , sausage fingers. LOL. anywat, no smarter than your next town comment.

book is in van.
info time: 4 rods = 1 chain (22yds): 10 chains = 1 furlong, 1 acre = 1 furlong x 1 chain. thats 1 horse and 1 man ploughing for a day.

Indeed it would be. But that would mean having 2 things to disconnect instead of one. More margin for error. Of course, any diligent spark would...
