Hi Gentlemen
A question regarding bonding the main water. The main water pipe intothe property is lead and runs upstairs before any copper is fitted. What is the common practice with lead water pipes ?
Thanks in advance for any advice given.

Maybe i need to do a quick plumbing course how hard can it be ? Do i just use an ordinary earth clamp ? I like the sound of getting rid of the lead !! ALL scrap cash into MY pocket please :D

As Mac said and don't worry about the 600mm guidline, most people forget the WHERE PRACTICABLE bit of regulation 544.1.2. Also a BS 951 clamp should be connected to hard not soft pipework so your connection to the nearest copper is quite acceptable and covered by the terms of the stated regulation.
Hope this helps ;)

if you come across any lead piping you are supposed to replace.
Having said that, at our place the main incomming supply is lead. My misses has lived there nearly all her life (25) and not done any harm, and all i drink is water. Probably coated in limescale though lol
