Discuss main bonding in the Periodic Inspection Reporting & Certification area at ElectriciansForums.net

We carried out a small installation job ,connecting 3 new circuits to an existing db,on one of the upper floors of a large multi occupied building. We were informed at the time that all existing services had been tested upto date, but we were unable to gain access to the incoming mains to verify this,as it was in another property. We therefore tested our part of the install, with zs etc well within limits and marked up the incoming services with a limitation as we had not verified it.
We have since discovered that the building does not have a valid test cert, and possibly no main bonding to water main etc, four floors below. However the building is currently undergoing an EICR by another contractor, in stages due to the nature and size of the building.Where do we stand with our original certificate.

As you know you have to verify that the main bonding is adequate before carrying out any additions or alterations. You should not take other people's say so on these things. If you carried out an EIC then you shouldn't be marking anything as a limitation. Another contractor carrying out an EICR is irrelevant.

As sintra as said you can't , shouldn't have limitations on an EIC.

If this is a multi occupancy building, then you should have main bonding conductors from any services entering the occupancy area to your local MET (EMT). That's a requirement, whether the service has been bonded as it enters the building or not!!

Each separately supplied and metered apartment, office, or other occupancy are to be treated as a separate installation in all respects.

You have stated on your EIC that you have not verified bonding....but if it's flats you should have been able to verify bonding to the flat you were working in at least......not much you can do now if you've issued the cert, put it down to experience. Unless there's the billion to one 'no bonding' related accident resulting from your install the worst you are going to get is a bolloking by your scam provider.
