just done a periodic for a letting agency and found the main earth needs upgrade,if i change that on its own do i have to cert it, if so what cert do i issue and is it a notifyable job

so what tests do i do on the sheet, as it is not a circuit nothing seems to apply do i just write the job, tick the relevant boxes and everything else N/A
i know this may seem a bit dim but ive always upgraded main earths as part of another job never on its own

Hi,
Why not write them an estimate for the work required, on your letterhead.
Once authorised, do the work with the cert etc and get paid.

Tell them, it needs to be done inorder for the PIR to be issued.

sorry misunderstanding somewhere here, ive already issued the PIR and they said to qoute for the work but the only code 1 was the earth the only other things were code 4, (no rcds ,etc ) and they asked me to qoute separatly for them, if i change the board then the earthing will be done anyway but if the just want the earth sorting then i just wanted to know what doxes to fill in on the cert

opm,

Here is what I do (if using the red NIC cert):

Fill in part 1 and 2 as normal, noting that it's not a new circuit, but upgrading the earthing and that an IR test has nor been carried out.

In part 3, I normally do an R2 on the new cable to make sure it's less tham 0.05 ohms, note this in the R2 box.

Hope this helps,

Steve.
