Looked at a job today on a TNS installation where the customer wanted a shower replacing. The gas and water supplier did not have any Main Protective bonding attached. The Main Earthing Terminal only had a single connection point to which the Earthing conductor was attached and then attached to the earth Bar in the CU. I assume that this was the reason for the initial installer not attaching any Main Protective bonding. I have attached bonding between the water and the gas supply and have also taken this to the earth bar in the CU in the abscence of any available space on the MET. Is this an acceptable way of doing this or should I look to replace the MET

it's fine as you've done it. an alternative would have been to fit a larger MET, but either way is acceptable. and not having sufficient room in the MET is not an excuse for the original guy not to do the main bonding.

There should be one, and only one MET on an installation, that is the whole point of having a MET. It is acting as the earthing systems star point . I would have replaced the MET for a larger model, to accommodate all of the installations required earthing/bonding conductors...

The fewer joints in a conductor the better i say...all joints have a sertain resistance value attached and can come loose/dislodged in time.....Its the reason why i always just bend the conductor back on itself (but remain continous) when taking a stab into a backbox or shoving it across behind a 2/3 gang switch etc...........
