A simple, yet interesting question.

We are advised that when bonding services such as the water incomer, then the bonding conductor should be unbroken between the MET and the connection to the service.

However, I have seen that it is possible to use the structural steel of a building to provide a pathway for the main bonding conductor between the MET and water service.

As described, a bond is taken from MET to structural steel. Then at a different location, another bond is taken from the structural steel to the water service. Lets make the assumption that the structural steel is continuous along its length.

Surely by doing this method, we have introduced connections - so no longer continuous between MET and water service. Now there are 2 additional locations where the bonding connection could be broken !!!!

But it an agreed method.

I would say no it should go from the service to the MET so there are no week joints on the cable. I have just seen the same thing in a factory and the joints were all lose (niceic contractor)
