Evening chaps,

Been to look at job today, doing my usual checks first... bonding, rcd protection etc....

Gas bond fine.:)

But water - can see what looks like it going away from CU, but the other end not visable.... stopcock boxed in, just tap showing and customer seems to think behind here. But he's not happy to remove tiling/boxing etc as all recently done?

What are the options I've got here then........ obviously will do a contunity test and see if get below 0.05, just to actually prove it. But I was always lead to believe and this what I go by that the clamp has to be visable... am I correct in saying this ?

If this is the case and as customer not happy to remove tiles/ boxing can I run a new bond to the nearest bit of pipework I can get to and that is going to allow new clamp to be visable. The only place I'm going to be able to do this is when the new kitchen goes in and I can locate it behind the sink.... this will end up being about 3m away from stopcock?

Hope that makes sense,

Many thanks,

Sy:)

My own corse of action would be to dis connect the bond at the consumer unit, continuity test between the cable and the stop cock,if reading ok,just note that it is not visible for inspection and away to go

I dont think it is reasonable to have the house ripped apart for the visual inspection

You say howeve,r that another could be run in to the sink, given that the pipe at the stop cock is not accessable
This would be the best position even if the original bond did not exist,as near as practical to the point of entry on the exposed piework.perfect solution :)
