Hello

Can anyone help me?
I have afew Commercial customers in Northern and Republic of Ireland, I urge my customers to generaly do weekly and monthly checks on there life saving systems.. ie.. Emergency lighting, a few of my customers in the north have not maintained there systems by leaving it a full year to check the Emergency lighting and I have discoverd some major faults that would not pass the Periodic, the customer was abit annoyed I have to replace 22 Emergency luminaires and 4 Exit boxes due to the battery's & compants had failed. The fittings are afew years old, but i explained to him if he did the checks I explained he had to do he could of spoted this fault earlyer and replace the fitting/components at the time and write this in the Log book I provided for him. He has basicaly said where in the Legislation does it state he has to maintain his Emergency lighting, Can anyone Indicate where it states this in any form of Legislation?

There is a British Standard for this stuff, can't remember the number at the moment. Monthly 10 minutes test, 6 monthly 20 minutes and yearly 45 minutes we do at work. It is the owners responsibility to have it maintained. That is written in the BS as well.

Hi, The BS standard is BS5266, im just trying to find out what makes it legislation(law) for the owner to Maintain his emergency Lighting systems.
