Hello there all the mighty ones,

I am domestic installer with 17th edition and inspection and testing (2391). After leaving the army I worked a short stint with a small family firm which I was enjoying but it folded. Jobless for a while then I got a job which has nothing to do with electrics however I would like to carry on with it as a side line so I don't forget and one day maybe, just maybe I will be able be back working in it. I cannot leave this new job as it gives me a steady income all be it a small one. Any suggestions how should I go about it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks

entirely upto you in managing your time and what courses you want to spend hard earned cash on. but you could try do domestic for now if you cant get on bigger sites... big enough outlay tho, depending on your contacts to claw it back ... hang round here and you always learn... ive been here since started college over 3 years ago.. .. and some jobs i wouldnt of tackled without knowledge from here..

I shall keep that in mind ezzzekiel or I could register with one of the bodies and try to do some bits and bobs in the domestic front for a while
if planning on working for yourself then possibly (quite a large initial outlay of cash)
you could aim for the 2391 to add credibility to your cv for employers (hard exam mind) which may open some doors.
or do it once and do it properly and go back to school

Yes telectrix I do have 2391, although it was all sweat and tears at the exams especially when we got told that the failure rate were 37% ish (don't know how accurate that was) and there were a few re-sitters too
