Hi Newbie here, i have done a fair few PV jobs, the only problem is---- how do i make the PV array safe for the electrician to connect the DC cables to the isolator????
Your help is appreciated.

On my install, I left the leads unplugged at the array and connected the DC cables into the isolator first. I then plugged the cables in at the array and did my testing. Hope this helps.

Ideally a blackout sheet should be used on PV array until isolator has been connected, or as mentioned above connect PV array after isolator fitted if an option, due to the high voltage that will probably exist on the wires you must ensure that they are safe, i suggest you fit the isolators in future ready for electrician to come along and do his side of the job.

We always start in the loft (or Inverter location) before installing any panels. This way the DC side is already in the DC isolator(s). No risk of accidental contact.

I have been advised to bulid a test box out of a DC isolator with some short leads and MC4 connectors to keep on the van. This can be used as a temporary isolator if necessary if there's only a short window of decent weather and the panels have to go on first.

I have a similar box for testing the DC also. Couple of banana sockets so the multi meter can plug straight in, rotary isolator and like you say couple of MC4 leads + & -.

And anyway what's wrong with working in the roof in the rain, wind, snow, ice, hail, fog, damp........Tell me again why I'm doing this?
