Making garage door automatic help

My father wants a garage door converting to an automatic door. I know you can buy a kit to convert it. Has anyone done this? Is it difficult to do? Thanks

Most of the sheds do these conversion kits, ....or did do!! I remember helping a neighbour in UK fit a shed bought conversion (up & over) It did the job, a few bits were i thought a bit on the flimsy side, but i don't think he ever had any trouble with it. Stretching my memory now but I'm almost sure it cost him either 89.99 or 99.99. ...lol!!!

A friend of mine installs garage doors, most doors can be converted to work with a electric operator but are not very reliable over a period of time and could be a problem if you have a big car. Do you have another access into the garage?

I've seen conversion kits in the Screwfix catalogue.
Not had any experience of them though.
