hi to all. I have recently gone self employed but mainly subby to people. i have done a few jobs for myself but have got others to test it to get them signed off. i want to be fully legal and up to date so i can move away from sub contracting. i know i need to do my 17th edition, 2391 and register with elecsa, niceic, napit etc.
Is there anything else i need?
do i need to be part p registered if with elecsa niceic or napit?

You don't have to be registered with anyone to carry out electrical work, it just means that if you are registered you don't have to factor in the cost of notifying the LABC to get a building notice to start your work.

You don't need any qualifications either just be a competant person. Again without those qualifications the LABC will not class you as a competant person and will charge one to test your work, and AFAIK I don't think a self certification scheme will register you without the bare minimum qualifications of a DI course. Most schemes will accept you without the 17th as long as you have the 16th, but you will have to get the 17th within 12 months

Again the 2391-10 is not a requiremnt to join a scheme, but without it they will be more stringent in the questions they ask you as they will want you to prove you can Inspect and test an installation. The 2391-10 will prove you can

ELECSA and NAPIT will make you Part P registered, it's not the other way round.
