An idea has been swimming around my head since i started my journey to becoming a electrician; Are the trades (any) accessible to those with disabilities?

What's everyone's thoughts on the matter?

Let's not beat around the bush here, the trades are very physical and demanding jobs however I don't believe that alone should preclude those with disabilities wanting to pursue a career, or even just a life skill.

Define disability?

Plenty of people with disabilities will be employed in trades, but requirements of a particular job will always preclude some people for one reason or another.

I'm not against the provision of more accessible training, but only if there is a realistic chance of gainful employment at the other end.

Depends on the disability, but ladder access, getting into lofts etc would probably preclude a lot of disabilities. As would colour blindness.

I mean breaking down the perceived barrier it creates. There will be some cases where a disability will stop someone; colourblind as mentioned, ladder work as a potential second. But as for others and general perception, I can only liken it to women getting in the industry; some will be dead set no, others will want them to prove they can don't and others will embrace it.
