I have the Makita lxt 202 drill set. Combi and impact drill. This week the combi drill has started, how do you say, locking the bits in that I'm using. Thus being really difficult to get out and having to use waterpump pliers on the chuck to release the bits.

I was wondering does anyone have any tips for avoiding this problem or should I not have this problem with a drill I only got in March of this year?

Thanks in advance.

Yeah mine seems to the do the same, I haven't given mine a good service for a while they are quite easy to take apart and brush them up and give them a spray of WD40 and they work as good as new.

I think it's a common problem as mine does it too. Spoke to the seller and they said they've had a few back for new chucks. They are pressed on sinkage to go back to makita etc.

When they repaired/replaced your Li-on battery how long had you had it for?

A collegue of mine has a few that hes not doing anything with I may buy them off him if they are pretty much no questions asked replacements or repairs? Does it matter how old they are although I don't think these ones are that old anyway.

Why do people keep buying Makita they seem to pop up on the threads more than most with slight reliability issues. By the sounds of it their aftersales seem to be great but it would have to be, at the rate that the kit goes wrong. Not having a dig just want to know what people feel makes them go for Makita and not Milwaukee or Bosch which although are getting cheaper and cheaper ( Use of plastics, mouldings and gearboxes etc) in the same way as Makita they don't seem to have the same reliability issues. This is very subjective as everyones uses and abuses tools in different ways but these Issues mentioned with the Makita's are down to the product. Let battle commence lol

Mine is doing the same, and I have been meaning to get the WD40 out.

But other than this I have found makita products the best value for money, I have got through a few drills, of various brands, in the past and makita have came out tops (IMO)

Think the Makita gear is so well priced thats why a lot of poeple use it. Compare a Bosch 18 volt combi with the equivalent Makita and you'll have the extra 100 quid still in yer pocket.

My battery was 13 months old. They replaced it within a day of sending it over to them. I did call the warranty dept prior to sending it though.
