After much nagging it appears that an advert in an energy related publication I paid for before Christmas is going out in mid April. I'm debating (with myself mainly which is why I could do with some help) about whether to put a "from" price on the advert. It opens up our pricing to our competitors but I can't help thinking that a lot of customers don't realise how much the prices have dropped. I thought we could maybe do the price from £6,000 which would be for a decent 2kwp system. I know some of you might go a bit cheaper but that's an ok price where we are.

What do you think price or no price??
 
im all for honesty and open pricing..

when im looking around to buy some thing / service i skip past ones i need to directly contact to get a BALL PARK figure...!

if the from price is displayed at least i know my entry level costings!!
 
My issue with putting prices out there is that the price of equipment can change quickly and you may find that you're over/under priced by quite a bit after a couple of months. Also, different jobs can be very different.
 
Yep that's what I'm conscious of. In the past in another job i've been one of the first to be completely open about pricing and it worked really well because people knew what they were getting. Maybe if I make it a pre-fit cut price or a "Spring Special" that would at least provide a time limit. Maybe something like:

Beat the next Fit cut in July, installations start from £6k ring now for advice about whether you can benefit from x% ROI through solar.

What do you think?
 
Just trying something similar in the local press myself, but basing price on 1.5kWp system in the hope that something in the low £5k's will attract more attention than £6k! I definitely agree with the others though, it's the way to go. Hopefully....
