Apologies for the long delay but as promised, I am now working on a few maths questions relating to inductance and capacitance. Here is the first:

p.s. Please just post answers first, once answers have been confirmed then we can go through the working out. This will enable others to post their answers before reading others workings :)

Re: Maths - Inductance and capacitancel: Intermediate

It = 4.87A i think. that's all i'm doing at the mo. it's friday pm and her indoors is coming out of the ozzy, so got to sling all the bottles, tidy the bed, hoover the dogs, wash the dishes, paint the shed, check for any female underwear behind the sofa cushions, think i'll shoot myself. :95:

Hi D Skelton, I've just joined the trainee forum, and realise that this is an old post, but here are my answers:- XL at A = 69.08 Ohms, Voltage at B = 197.57v, Power Output at B = 565.05 W, Voltage at C = 143v, Circuit Impedance = 85.28 Ohms, Total Current = 2.86A, Circuit True Power = 411.73W, Circuit Apparent Power = 697.84VA, Circuit Power Factor = 0.59 lag. Not 100% on the voltages or power. Cheers. Jim

Hi Jim I'd all but forgotten about these, I'm glad someone has noticed lol.

With regards to your answers they're all pretty much bang on! Top stuff! The only one that is incorrect is your answer to the power OUTPUT at 'B'. Have a closer look and think again :)

Anyone else reading who might know please don't give the game away :)

Closer in that you are going down, but still way off. I'll give you a clue, 'B' is an inductor yes? Think about the relationship between resistors and power and inductors/capacitors and power. You don't need maths to work this one out.

Bingo!

That question was a little bit of a red herring if I'm honest, makes you think though :)

Why not try my advanced inductance and capacitance question?
