Maximum demand on a E.I.Certificate

New circuit added for sockets.

Do I put the max demand for the new circuit installed? or all circuits?

thanks

Tom

agree. i usually add up the total of the breakers then divide by 2. rule of thumb and all that.

and on the main breaker section for the RCD I put 30ma, then what for the breaking time? do i put the time i got in my rcd test results or 300ms??

on certs, for rcd trip time you put the values for x1 and x5, whichever readings are the highest of 0deg. and 180deg. some certs only ask for the x1.

i usually put 18kw on domestic.no reason why, just like the sound of it.do you think it really matters.youve only got whats available through the primary overcurrent device anyway.hopefully someone will enlighten us both

To do the job properly, you should do the full monty and apply diversity. I am crap at maths unless its the cost of 6 pints of lager. So the formula i have always been told to use is the following.

Add up the total rating of the MCBs and Fuses which are fitted, and times the figure by 0.4, shove that figure in the maximum demand box, job done. The Elecsa assessor has no problem with it either.

Cheers.............Howard

This months PE (Jan 2011) has a switched on Issue 19 which has a two page section (Assessing the maximum demand of a domestic electrical installation). This will clear up some questions and then make you ask so many more oh why oh why do I read these mags.
