Hopefully im not the only one but has anyone got a good way of putting on MC3 connectors? trying to put in the rubber encasement has given me blisters on my thumbs by trying to twist them on. tried using a bit of fairy liquid on it but it just dries up with the heat of the outer sheath and connector rubbing together. Was thinking of cutting a small tube just a fraction bigger than the mc cable and then pushing the connector over it, pushing the cable through the tube then pulling the rubber part over it. Stupid I know but saves blisters.

Not sure how much this helps but we use the SunStore MC3 connectors which need no push tool and seem to work very well or MC4's which obviously need no specialist tool either. The Sunstore crimper can do both MC3 & MC4..

Cheers

the panels we use come with solarline 1 connectors so we tend to stick to the same type that are on them instead of chop and change on them. think I might just change the connectors on 2 of them the night before install and use those as the last panels in the circuit so that they are the MC4 connectors coming through the roof

Check your warranty if you're going to chop them - our supplier reckons it voids the warranty. Not sure if this is right but would be sensible to check. We use crimpers for MC3's tried for ages without, gave in coughed up (grudgingly) for the crimpers and haven't looked back.
