I know when a batch of MCB are recalled, it is usually no problem to exchange them with your wholesaler for a new replacement MCB.
My question is: Obviously the cost of labour involved in visiting each client and removing-installing the replacements can be very time consuming and costly.
How is this normally dealt with,ie payment for our labour to replace? Naturally invoicing the customer is not an option. any advice?

yep, it was ÂŁ75 each site and reimbursement for any MCBs replaced. if it's the electrium fire risk recall, thats wylex, crabby and another i can't remember, google electrium recall and they send you out a service pack.

Actually I didn't get re-imbursed for the MCBs, was told it was all part of the ÂŁ70 (or ÂŁ75) per visit.

Generally it was a good deal - found 6 MCBs in total, 10 sites, didn't take longer than 30 minutes or so at each site. In some cases it meant checking only 1 MCB!

Myunderstanding is that Electrium have recalled MCBs with 17 date codes across 7different brand names that they produce. It is mainly MCBs that have beenrecalled not CUs. Just 3 types of NEWLECCUs have been recalled. Ifyou found out about the recall from your wholesaler they probably only told youabout the 2 or 3 brand names that they actually sell, not all 7. Are there morebrands? I wonder… Ihave been lucky and I have only found odd dud MCBs, if you check a CU with 4 orso 6A MCBs which need to be exchanged, you are out of pocket. I think thatElectrium should pay the £75 for the inspection and then an extra amount perMCB exchanged.
I am not sure what the actualproblem is with the MCBs, some overheating? Some catch fire? Some don’t complywith the B curve? I guess this saga will be with us for a while yet.

Hi I had to check 80 boards over the last year on the mcb recall, it was 6, 10 and 16 amp it was myself that had a house go on fire due to the faulty 6AMP mcb and urged wylex to come clean on the problem with the mcb's but can anyone help as last week I was called to a house to change a faulty fan it was a house that I had already had inspected for the faulty mcb's and had changed 3 6Amp mcbs due to the recall but this time while killig the power to replace the fan I noticed a 32amp mcb in the off position but the power was still going through it as nothing was off, I removed the cover and I could not belive it the rcd, main switch and meter tails were scortched and the 32amp mcb had melted onto the next 32amp mcb , I removed the mcb's and split them and the mcb had melted in same are as the faulty 6amp one , I called wylex they sent someone to see me that day to take the mcb's away to be tested , I said I would not want the same hastle as before and the time it took to get back to me well I am still waiting 2 weeks now no answer so has any of you guys had any problems with the 32amp mcb's as we may be going round to change them next I asked why they were not all replaced at same time I did not get a geat answer.
