has anyone came across the problem of a mcb triping on a imersion curcuit when the hot water is run for a period of time ?

First check It ≥ In ≥ Ib

then..

Best do an insulation check.

Then I would disconnect the heater and check the resistance of the element is proportional to the power rating of the heater...

For a 16A Breaker, any resistance across the element of less than 14 Ohms ( 3.5 KW ) will trip the breaker .
