Hi chaps not been here for a while,
The last 3 nights the 32a mcb for the downstairs ring has triped but has been fine during the day with everything on ie. dryer, washer, dishwasher, fridge etc.
I just got up for the obvious, and its triped again (3 am) I changed the mcb this mornng and meggered he circuit and it was over 19.99 Mohm. It has got me stumped! Any idea's
Cheers

Unplug everything overnight (except the fridge and freezer) then try that. Turn off anything that is connected to the downstairs ring - for example boiler, etc - you can always plug them back in in the morning.

If that trips then its one of the things plugged in.
Do a PAT test on the fridge and Freezer checking for earth leakage.

Out of interest have you got an RCD installed on that circuit - if not you may have an earth leakage problem.

Just to let you know you have something creating a low resistance between the line and neural (i you got an RCD)/or earth (if no RCD)
Your getting something with a resistance lower than 14ohms.

You can always plug the fridge and freezer into an extension lead running from the upstairs ring (if on a different circuit)

Good Luck
