If you go and check the MCS012 database there are only 11 products currently registered. It will be 12 in the next 24 hours when Redtip appear on there.
Here is the rub. At Ecobuild those roof mounting companies exhibiting we're all confident they would be registered by 1st April. However, not all of them had brackets on display. Schletter had one for slate roofs but not one for tiles. They are apparently gong through testing. K2 said they were on track as do Renusol. Wagner are not bothering so will withdraw roof mounting products. No sign of Schuco.
The worry is now over non availability of product for April 1st. This could disrupt and inhibit the market. There were some moves afoot at Ecobuild to delay the introduction of MCS 012 as a consequence.
This raises a number if issues. Manufacturers have known for 18 months that this was going to happen. There were some late changes 6 months ago, but they should have had things sorted.
If there is postponement what will be the reaction of those businesses that have achieved accreditation in good time? One has told me they will issue legal proceedings if there is any delay.
Looks like time to assure your supply chain.
There are further problems for those of us north of the border. It appears that no one is accrediting a hook suitable for use on a Scottish slate roof.
