MCS/REAL rules for installers/sellers

I'm trying to help a friend of a friend with a mis-sold PV system and I was wondering if someone could help.

I know that the rules were being changed with regard to MCS and responsibility whereby the installer is responsible for the WHOLE process - including selling - even if they only carried out the install work. Does anyone know if and when this rule came in to force?

Yes, Issue 2.0 of MCS001 incorporated those changes and was issued 1/12/11. Clause 8 on p16:

If the MCS certified Company obtains sales leads from any third party, the Company must require that the third party complies with all the relevant requirements of the MCS standards and Consumer Code. The Company will be responsible for any non-compliance.

only if the installer was the MCS registered company, What if the installer was installing as a sub-contractor under an MCS company?

Why didn't your mate buy from you !! Although I don't push my business to mates but always have to bight my tongue when I see the finished job and find out how much it costs.

It way the missus' mate's parents. I've never met them before but I was stoked into doing something for them as they have been totally ripped off.

But there is sod all I can do now as I have just found out that the installers have now moved into liquidation.

The solar industry is worse than the wild west.

Indeed, a mate of mine is looking at getting double glazing, the stories of price moving and calls to managers etc at least that doesn't happen, or does it .......
