Sorry if this is in the wrong section guys so feel free to move....

WELL I bought another 1552 off EBAY in May that was recently calibrated with cert etc. when it came I did a voltage test and a simple plug in ZS on my ring (which I know the results of) and all was well. Come to use it and it doesn't seem to be working properly :-/

When I go to do a ZE or PFC it just beeps and flashes at me -50v or something! Is this what they do if the batteries are low? IR test is fine too which is strange as I thought this was the biggest drain?

Any help?

switch it on and read the display. first will be the version number, then the battery volts. if under 11.0v, replace them. next is to check the accessible fuse. you could have blown it. also, if the leads arfe fused, check. easiest way to check leads is to sitick 'em in a multimeter, short them out, then ohms test 'em.

but they hold the voltage better. generally can test 3 installations on a charge. does for me. if they drop out, do a bit of something else while they get a quick charge in the van.

I can do quite a number of tests on full installs on one set of batterys, duracell is what we use

Must be a pain in the arse charging batterys after 3 installs!

I take it your using the 2500 mAh rechargeable batteries, with a 15 minute charger. That's basically what i use for both my digital camera, and my Megger CM500 MFT power requirements... Works for me too ...lol!!!
