Simple question really. What are the pros and cons of each? Which is best in your opinion?

Has anyone got their hands on the megger 1700 range yet? In the market for a tester yet but don't wasn't to spend the money on the 1553 when its bein discontinued!

i have the Fluke and although its been a good tester, i am looking to change to the Megger! Much better for the RCD tests, like Tony says, it does the RCD ramp test where as mine doesnt. Plus most of my tests are done with 3 leads and the Megger is 2 which makes a hell of a difference when you are balanced up a pair of steps! I know when i have seen the Megger used, you dont have to push the 'test' button for all tests like you do on the Fluke.
One other point i can think of - if you buy things like the Kewtec accessories like the plugs for testing, or the adapters that go in lamp holders, the Megger leads fit - the Fluke ones dont!

Fluke 1653B does do a ramp test and Phase rotation, the Megger MFT1552 is about to be replaced with the MFT1700 range and has phase rotation added and is 2 wire.

If you can i would wait and see what the feed back is like on the new Megger before you make up your mind.

The new Megger should start to get delivered next week.

.

new megger is too pricey for me at the mo tho. as long as the 1552 does the job and is better than the fluke then ill prob just stick to that one. i cant see that the new 1700 range has ÂŁ400 worth of features more. tell me if im wrong tho

Well the entry range megger the 1710 is around the 47o mark which is quite competitive although I want to here peoples opinions before I buy something I regret, although the 1552/1553 are a very straightforward and easy to use piece of machinery
