I already read the thread on this but the answers didn't help. I need to get my !553 apart and have taken the 4 screws out. The unit will start to part but there appears to be something holding the two halves together at the top. Does anybody know how to open one of these up?

I spoke to Megger last week about repairing mine, where the test leads attach to the unit, the female part that receives the leads has broken off. They said they won't fix it because it is now obsolete!

Very disappointing, and any help appreciated.

Lee, you are a legend. The location of four screws underneath a flush sticky faceplate was completely counter-intuitive given the obvious location of the four screws on the back.

I now have split the body, but I am starting to see where Megger are coming from as the part where the leads plug into appears to be one pre-moulded unit that leads back into part of one of the PCBs behind an insulating screen. For now I have had a quick peek and have closed it back up, bit I will continue my investigations in the next few days.

Many thanks again
