Megger 1720 multi-tester

I am thinking of buying a second hand tester, but it is displaying error 52, any thoughts on what this means, and weather it needs to be repaired. Megger 1720

forget it. could be a £300 repair. i just bought a mint, as new, 1721 for £500. no faults.

It's code for "uneconomic to repair" with the sub text "put me on ebay so some enterprising but overly optimistic electronics engineer will buy me hoping for an easy repair, but who will eventually give up and return me to Megger for a £300 fix, resulting in spending more than buying a fully working/calibrated one in the first place" ?

Agree. Don't buy ANY mft with a known problem. False economy.
You can get a trusty old 1553 with a 12 month calibration for £200-£300
Or a Kewtech KT63 is a fantastic tester and they come up for similar money.

2nd vote for 1553. bulletproof tester .mine's 13 years old. passed all calibrations .

If it was a cheap / easy / economic fix, then the seller who appears to be dealer of test instruments would have had it repaired.

The 1730 that does not power up would be a better choice, more liekly a simpler fix, but as all others above avoid any tester with known faults.

btw my 'cheap spare' is a Metrel 3125 and I really like it, to the point it is coming out to play more and more.
Di-log 9083p unit's are also cheap as chips and adequate.

I have provisinally for sale ( can't decide whether the 2 lead no trip is worth me upgrading 1553),a 1721 in mint condition. perfect working. still got the leads in bags and screen protector on.
£650 with optional calibration for extra £50. (new 1721 best price I can find is £950 inc. VAT ),
