I was testing someone elses work the other day on a dual rcd board, and the megger wouldn't perform the no trip loop test on any circuit on 1 of the rcds! It just kept coming up with the word hot on the display. I know this means the thermal protection has cut in to stop damage to the meter... but it was happy to perform tests on the other rcd?? Anyone come across this before or does it just sound like a faulty meter? I cant think of any faults that would cause this to happen and the megger hadn't been used all day and had only just come out of the van.
