Is this a well written piece of software, does anyone use it on a daily basis and does the bluetooth connectivity work well?

Thanks

I personaly didnt like the vblootooth once you get use to it its not 3 bad

we have been given Amteck on lappys getting the hang of it the now some DUGGGGGG moments others phone the geek he explains n its sorted

Thanks Mogga,

In too deep now, have parted with the funds so it has become academic. Historically I have found issues with bluetooth and all things Microsoft, but I will give it a thorough work out in May when it arrives. If the BT is standards compliant and I can hook the megger up to Ubuntu I might have a bash at writing something simple and see where it takes me. Possibly one of the new Android pads also.

The bluetooth works very well with a quality dongle/laptop, but can be a bit variable with mobile phones and PDAs.
The software however is not intuitive and requires learning (so much so that Megger do a course solely for this) and even when you have climbed the learning curve it's still quicker with pen and paper. I know of 20 sparks who had it with their testers, all of which were sent on the Megger course, only 1 regularly uses it and even he's beginning to crack, enough said!

Thanks MarkieSparkie,

That was what I was expecting to receive as a reply to the thread.

Do you collect the data though, and pull it off the megger when you get home to write up the cert?

I understand that ELECSA are going to implement a virtual certificate upload for the megger, that might be interesting.

You identify the type of reading your are about to make with a code, then make the measurement and it is then captured by the MFT and sent via bluetooth, handshaking with your laptop/PDA/mobile phone and is automatically entered into the "electronic certificate/report".
You get all the BS7671 standard "electronic" forms with the software. Special branded "electronic forms" are available to download from most of the registration bodies (NICEIC, ECA/ELECSA, NAPIT and others) for a fee. In order to obtain the required forms you log on to your respective bodies website using your account, select the required number of forms, pay the required fee and then download to your laptop, PDA or mobile phone ready for use. I've used the phrase "electronic forms", in some cases you actually download the registered forms, in others the forms are downloadable or already in the software without a fee, but you later have to pay a registration fee to get the certificate/reports unique registration number or block of numbers, to be able use/access them.
