I’ve just had a new stud wall put up. I have chrome light switches throughout the house but with metal pattress boxes. Am I correct in thinking a plastic drywall pattress box will be ok with a metal switch as long as the CPC is wired into the faceplate....or do I put in another noggin and use metal one with a fly lead?

Yes, nowt wrong wi' dry linin' boxes.
Incidentally, the cpc should always go to the metal faceplate.

Thanks for that. Yeah I’ve connected the CPC to the faceplate on the other ones and ran a fly lead to the back box although I believe this is not always needed as the screws and lugs provide an earth. ?

Metal box, metal faceplate... run an earth between them, and to the circuit earth wire (cpc)

It protects when somebody unscrews the switch, looking for a problem without turning the power off first. Loose live cable brushes against metal plate...... fried fingers!

Given that, it probably makes sense to TT the shed, unless you can be sure it doesn't act as an extraneous-conductive-part. (The SWA won't have...
