Hi, just a quick one.

The situation I have is - Outside meterbox, which is now becoming detached from the wall. The chipboard inside with the meter and cutout screwed to it is rotten and breaking away.

Who owns what? Obviously the meter and cut out is their problem, but what about the actual cabinet? Do I need to get a new one or will they own that too?

I'm guessing every DNO is different, but just wondering what your experiences are.#

Thank you

Dear Richard, generally the box is supplied by the Supply Authority, I have normally collected this from their yard & fitted it or had the builder fit it [ if a flush version]. Differant areas may have their own rules. I would contact your supplier, or if concerned ring the emergency number & tell them it is hanging off the wall & you have young children who play near by. They then have a responsibility under health & safety, regards piccollo

I like your style! Thanks :)

Yeh that’s my thinking. I have to supply the box so can order a bigger 3 phase option to give myself a bit more room

Your electrician shouldn't be doing anything to the cutout, that is the property of the electricity supplier and they make the connections to it...
