Meter Installer

Hi everyone,
Hope you are all well.
I received a phone call from a recruitment agency today asking me if i was interested in becoming a meter installer.
They promise approx 10 definate bookings a day and I can earn approx £300 - £400 a day !!!!
Have any of you guys or girls done this sort of work before?
Is this too good to be true, or is this a genuine oportunity That I am being offered !!!
They agency also said that training would be provided.

Thanks for all your advise,
Take care,
Sav

check to see if the training is FREE and that you never ever have to repay a penny on it,i have never worked in metering, but if the clients are not at home do you get paid anything?

The training is quite hard to come by - a lot of companies want you to have it already, but you can only get it 'on the job', so it's a chicken and egg situation.

From what I've heard the money they offer is a bit unrealistic due to the fact that a lot of customers are out, or don't even know they're supposed to be having their meter changed.

If I were in your situation I'd go for it - you can always leave.

What you need to know is the true actual figures per job, will it be a self employed position with them?

Will they try and claw back the training cost from you?
Will it be your tools, van, insurances and phone that you have to use?
Will you be suckered in to doing away jobs that will either be long days or overnighters at your cost.

Are you quiet on the work front? If you are its worth finding out more.

Apparently the training is free and the leads are guaranteed.
I may go for it as Novusparkus says, if anything to gain the experience and training.
Thanks for the replies, really helpful,
Sav

mmmh 10 bookings a day in london - i would want to know if they will guarantee they are within reasonable distance of each other. 5 miles apart and you could be looking at another 30 to 60 mins driving between jobs. If you are taking 40 mins per job you could be looking at very long days to make that money. Could be a great job but when things look too good to be true they usually are - no harm in giving it a go though - you might even get into training others which could pay more :)
