Wasnt sure what section to put this in as I have a few general questions.
But a customer is having an extension with a new open plan kitchen. Their current CU doesnt meet 17th ed. and said they could have it upgraded to a larger cu to meet but faults, barrowed neutrals could be present etc etc, though, it looks like it was only installed a fwe years back. They didnt want it to be touched, so will install a smaller second one, split the supply with a set of henley blocks, but how long can the meter tails be? I'm thinking they would need to be about a meter. Have two lights and ring on rcd side and then cooker / oven and smokes on non rcd side.
As the rest of the house will not be on an RCD then all pipes in the new kitchen will need to be bonded yes?
First job I am having to price up, and as I know them will do it for next to nothing, but for a kitchen / dining room plus, with downlights and some patio floor lights, (roughtly about ÂŁ450 for materials) labour, by the hour?
Someone mentioned charge about 1 to 1.5 for the whole lot, I was going to say less than 1k.
Another spark they had lined up they said was was going to "cost thousands" they said.
O yea, kitchen sinks, cant find any thing in the regs about distance for a socket from a sink. I have seen a few pretty close to sinks which I though was a bit tooo close. Anyone know where is say's about this? In the OSG I see the bathroom sink is not in a zone.
Lot of questions I know. Cheers.
