why are the supply companys fitting new smart meters in are homes and not upgrading tails my consumer unit has 25mm tails and 16mm earth so when this meter guy turns up at my house to fit meter i ask him why hes not upgrading his tails to 25mmm he tells me we work to different reqs i dont tell him im a spark but notice the fuse he pulls was 100amp i tell him that 16mm only takes 87amp and that the tails need to be 25mm which would take the poss 100amp he couldnt wait to get of my property ha ha its wrong though

Forget the tails side of things, the main supply cable into the cut out is probably only going to be the equivalent of 16mm ''at Most'' on older installations, certainly no-where near Your 25mm tails... As he stated, they work to totally different cable current carrying ratings on there network distribution systems etc!!
