Went to look at a job yesterday probably a job for someone with more experience! PME system with 3 tails running through a mains cut out switch and via 3 60a fuses into the main fuse box. One live tail to each bank of 6 BS88 fuses. A further tail running from one of the 60a fuses into a small and apparently recently installed CCU. As 5 of the 18 BS88 fuses were missing probably not as many ways required as first appears. However, silly question....what happens to these 3 tails currently running into the main fuse board when replaced with a CCU? Thank you in advance.

It's a 3 phase incomer. The board is a old style or a modified board to separate the feeds. You would fit a 3 phase board which is a similar process to fitting a single phase one. Sounds like a red spot board which is a normal 3 phase board that is used in most industrial premises. It can be a little daunting if you have never used 3 phase before but still when used for 240v feeds is no different than a single phase. If you could post a picture I could tell you exactly what it is as they may have 3 phase supplying some items which is 415 volts between phases so you would need to know what your doing or it can be deadly. But to answer your question, in a new 3 phase board the tails would go in the main inc isolator which is normally a 4 pole 100amp switch disconnector.

about ÂŁ2500 for a funeral these days.

Thats a bit steep. They are doing Eco coffins made from cardboard etc, can get all sort of fancy art work printed on the fronts too. Think you can pick one up for around ÂŁ200. However, after poking ones fingers between two phases, i think a crisp packet would be all that is needed

You need to get someone who knows what they're doing as you clearly don't. If you don't it will all end in tears, a massive flash, and a long stop over in a hospital burns unit whilst they put you back together.

You've answered your own question really!

Guys thank you all for the information and 'dark humour' too, all useful/amusing stuff.....and yes Amp David had already answered my own question and clear in my own mind would not touch it but also needing to learn and thus ask the question?

Yeh that’s my thinking. I have to supply the box so can order a bigger 3 phase option to give myself a bit more room
