Hi all,

Having a blank moment and wondered if anyone can help!

I have been asked to move a meter from the mains head to about 20m away, i know i cant touch the meter but i need to install the cable to an isolator.

Is there a maximum distance EDF will allow from the mains head?

Cheers :D

Not sure what EDF request but most DNO insist that if you extend tails over 3 metres then you should run in either SWA or Concentric.

Also that there should be a protection device installed to protect the cable. If the run is surface then you can use a standard switch fuse, if the cable falls under regs 522.6.5 or 522.6.6 then it has to be RCD or RCBO protected.

Just wondering Matty who asked you this? I've had many jobs moving the CU but not sure a DNO will want it's meter 20meters from the header
