Can there only be ONE electricity suppliers meter per incoming supply. Ie if you had an incoming 3 phase supply to a landlord common area which fed a rye field cut out and then supplying individual apartments can each apartment have an electricity supplier of their choice or would they have to use the one that the landlord chose and then be billed by the land lord?

Thanks that what I thought. The electrical contractor is proposing a panel board with integral meters but I said that wont allow each tenant to have their own electricity supplier.

Meter or meters?? If ''meters'' then i take it the electrical contractor is providing a provision for a meter to each tenant/flat, plus the landlords meter, so no problem!! To have a different supplier, doesn't mean they need to change or provide their own meter.

But if the meters are integral to a panel board (each meter monitoring its own apartment) how does a electricity supplier (eg eon or whoever) bill each apartment individually. Surely each meter will need its own MPAN number in order to be billed separately. We don't want one bill going to the landlord and then landlord having to go read each individual meter and then them billing. The apartments are to be sold off and so I am sure each each one will want the freedom to choose their own supplier.

Same as you, if you change a supplier. Does the new supplier come round and change the meter, ....nope, the new supplier just takes/acquires the MPAN number, or whatever, and starts billing!!!

Yes I understand engineer 54 but if the electrical subcontractor installs meters inside a panel board how are these given an MPAN number if you only have one 3 phase supply. When the DNO gives you a supply they give you an MPAN number. If you have one supply going into a panel board surely that's only 1 MPAN number. Can multiple MPAN numbers be provided with a ryefield cutout?

The subcontractor won't install meters the supplier will.
The DNO will provide MPAN numbers and yes they will provide multiple MPANs if they determine the supply is adequate. You would need to apply to the DNO first and they would need to assess the network capacity.
With MPAN (s) in hand you can go to your chosen supplier and and ask for meters to be fitted.
MSDB's can have up to 30 ways which could have 30 single phase meters connected or 10 three phase meters fitted.
