Just a thought- what happens when the neutral returns back to the supplier? And if its been through the meter it's mine as I have paid for it ?

What you want is a supply like the one in the picture below which I took while working abroad last week. It's for single use electricity. This is very rare in the UK because most electricity suppliers sell re-usable electricity on an exchange basis - you are required to send your used lecky back for reprocessing. They monitor your balance and if you don't return as much as you have received, they withhold further deliveries. However in the sparsely populated area where I was stationed, the cost of erecting a return wire is too great to justify the exchange scheme, therefore the suppliers sell the electricity outright. Once it has left the meter it is yours to keep, although the potential uses for it are rather limited (pun intended).
