Meters: what is "1000 pulse/kWh"?

Hi all,

Can you tell me what it means when the meters say "(1000 pulse/kWh)" in their description?

I see they're always a few squid more; is it just personal preference to have that ability?

Pulse kWh meters send out a "pulse" at pre-programmed intervals. These can be hooked up to data loggers or simcard modems that transmit the information to be monitored off-site.
