Should really be contacting the dno about this but thought I would ask on here first. I have a customer who is converting a single property into 2 self contained flats. To get a second supply is going to be very costly, road closures etc so the dno told him he could supply the 2 properties from the 1 existing supply. What I want to know is can the dno fit 2 meters for me to then fit switch fuses then to my consumer units or will they fit one meter and I will have to fit 2 private meters for the landlord to bill his tenants accordingly?

The best way is to get the supply company to fit two prepayment meters.
That way the new tenants aren’t chasing the landlord for top ups. They just pay at one of the many pay-points around town.
No pressure on the landlord over profiteering either, plus there is the machine to add credit to the card / key.
It also gives the tenant the option of a credit meter if they want it.

Thats what I was hoping I could do, just never seen it done before. Now to contact the dno!
