Hi there i have a metrel easi test one of the new ones and have had something come up today which i have never seen before. The symbol was an arrow going in the floor which i have now found out is "phase voltage on the PE terminal",could someone explain this as the installation works fine and there appears to be no voltage on the PE,please help, thanks

Yes - the way the Metrels test for a high touch voltage on the earth connection is thru your finger to earth. The better you are grounded the more likely you are to see this warning, which is usually just annoying but may save yer life oneday.

To check, try pressing test with an insulated screwdriver handle or the like, the warning should not appear.

mine does this all the time, i think it's a fault. it's always when i'm doing zs at a light fitting, never when i have the plugtop lead in doing zs at sockets. it comes up with the warning as soon as L and E terminals are on.

actually, it does it as soon as my thumb touches the bloody test button! tried it using a spare insulated probe and it works fine. can't beleive i've been getting error messages for weeks now and all i had to do was press test with something insulated from me. there should be a warning in the handbook that explains this.

I've just had the same thing happen, so thanks for posting.
