as above im looking to buy a multifunction tester i use a megger 1502/2 at work and ive used flukes before, but ive not had much experience of metrel i remember my old boss had a similar looking unit but yellow, i was just wondering if any of you use 1 and what theyre like? they dont look to clever but there cheap 2nd hand lol or should i just get a 2nd hand megger or fluke? any opinions?

ended up going out and buying a megger 1552 bargain ÂŁ220 and a tenner in juice to pick it up :)

I my opinion you have bought the better MFT as the Megger MFT1552 is excellent, particularly at the price you have paid, even if it requires calibrating. However the Metrel Instaltest 61577 is a good and capable MFT for anybody on a budget.

i think i got a bargain and yes it does need calibrating it was out last week but i know a place in bolton that do it for ÂŁ35 , only other thing it was missing was all 3 push on crocodile clips ive got the probes just hope thyre not too extortionate!!

hmm thats definately a good price but the megger probes ive got are the latest style ones with a permanent tip so i dont think they would go on , i could just steal my bosses maybe 1 a week lol
