Ok, so twice this week my MFT has reported no earth - this is obviously due to a poor connection to the connector - so has anyone had the same? Has anyone taken theirs apart?

I'd rather not send it to Metrel and not have it for a week minimum!

Thanks

Had a problem with mine, the plug wasn't making a good connection, called Metrel "clean the contacts" I thought "cheeky gits" but it worked had no problems after that

how did you clean them? They aren't exactly accessible

This was quite simple I.m talking about the pins on the 13a type plug top, apparently it is a common fault, at least that's what I was told, used some contact cleaner, all OK something perhaps worth checking, sounds daft I know but some faults are that simple to rectify

My issue is within the meter - neither of my leads worked!

Not doubting you but have you checked both leads for continuity with a multimeter while flexing the leads and the connections at the plugs.
I've come to a conclusion with Metrel leads that lightning can strike in the same place twice, had the fault Phild mentions on a lead set that was only a few weeks old so I wouldn't assume your second lead set is not without a fault

A company I worked at a while ago there was a couple of lads that did their sparks quals 2 - 3 nights a week over 3 years and had recently qualified one day got a call from one them that he couldn't get a reading using the mains lead talked him through some checks and he found 2 loose screws in the plug top his Metrel meter was no more than a couple of months old

Have to say, my Metrel seems to have gone faulty yet again and as soon as I can it'll be on fleabay and a Fluke ordered in its place. Its been nothing but a dissapointment ever since I got it.

Not just any radiator though, it should only be the radiator in the room where the thermostat for each zone is located which doesn't have a TRV.

Absolutely correct they hold water, shrouds are totally unnecessary. 20s is 24mm spanner, 20 large is 30mm spanner.

I'm not entirely certain as it's very tough, but brittle when cold.
