anyone got advice on domestic installations where the grid is already in place
(usually we're in before the grid)
regarding cable runs and cable support

-handiest install methods?

-because of the price of copper it's not practical to bunch cables in main runs

-is EMI a big issue with network cables if they're draped on the grid?

thanks

All the cables should be supported , cable band, cable ties , lops of twin skin, but keep them off the grid, ( Im assuming it hasent been boarded ! )

usually we do chalk lines for mains and data 'main runs' before grid goes in

and fix the clam type swa glands to underside of hollowcore

that method of wiring is too expensive now -as the cable runs are longer than necessary

'the ceiling grid is neither exposed nor extraneous in normal circumstances so shouldn't be earthed or bonded'-is my understanding

always was concerned about the ceiling grid inadvertently becoming live -what do you guys think?

Always test first, don't assume anything when it comes to ''commercial grid ceiling installations''. During the installation of these grid hangers, it is more than possible to make contact with the slab re-bar, thus making the ceiling grid an extraneous conductive part. Had that happen on projects on more than just a few occasions!!!

these are concealed domestic ceiling grids

the commercial T bar grids are different afaik

you couldn't effectively bond the commercial grids i would think because of poor continuity
