Discuss MF junction box's in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

Well, if they are MF they won't need to be available for inspection, but unless you get an IP rated version such as lineproducts sell, then I wouldn't put wet plaster all over one.
For me it's either pull a new cable in, or fit a blanking plate over the original backbox.

To be fair I hate extending cable, however there is some jobs where this is just not practical. Just a case of what complies and what doesn't. It may be rough but there is a line beetween rough and cost effective to the customer but most importantly complying with the regs.

you could solder or crimp, fit heat shrink sleeving over the individual joints then heat shrink or s/a tape to replace the sheath. even plastered in, it's not permanently inaccessible as the plaster can be removed, same as you would need to if a nail or screw pierced a cable.

Replacing the sheath is always a tricky one, as technically it won't have the original electrical properties. Even MF joints should really be inside an enclosure to fully comply with the regs, though I realise that many electricians consider the wall "enclosed". :)

Very simple. Chase down from existing switch, extend the cable with wagos, fit blanking plate. Easy work and fully complies.
You are the electrician, so tell them that it's the safest and cheapest way to do it.
