Discuss MFT 1553 test lead replacements in the Electrical Tools and Products area at ElectriciansForums.net

O

oldtimer

Guy thinking of buyinhg a new set of leads for my 1553 the part No is 6220-796 but I am a bit confused as I have seen equivilent leads ? so what are the best cost effective ones to get ?

The reason is my neutral lead is damaged.

Megger 6220-796 was the original 3 lead set, this and its successors 1001-860, 1001-974 and 1001-975 have all been replaced by Megger 1001-991.
The cheapest price I can find, ÂŁ40.20 including VAT and P&P, if you are Pass member/account holder there is a discount available, you can sign-up online before ordering.

Update:
Test-Meter the forum sponsors also do them and appear to have bettered this and their previously advertised price, see post#3:

Hi oldtimer, MarkieSparkie is correct - the replacement Megger part that you need is 1001-991.

The colour of the leads have changed from the red, green and black setup that you are probably used to. We have them in stock and can supply them for ÂŁ38.70 inclusive of VAT and carriage (this also includes your 5% forum discount).

If you'd like to order, I should be able to get them out on a next day service for you if you want to call me on 0113 248 99 66.

Cheers :)

I've been trying to find some of the old leads as I'm not keen on the new ones, seems more bits to loose as you now have to change between the probes and clips whereas before the clips went ontop of the probes.

Let us know what you think of them.

Cheers

why the hell have they half changed the colour scheme? did they think "well i suppose it's time to update the leads to the new colours since they have been out for ages, we'll start with the neutral wire, this shall now be blue instead of black, and as for the live, well well just leave that red for the hell of it"
do you get a free sticker with that set of leads saying "this test meter has wiring colours to 2 different versions of BS7671"!!

The 1552, which I also own, does not predate GS38. You have nothing to worry about.
