I've recently purchased this machine and im having no endof problems with it. When i first used it it was fine ,on 7 cct's. Then i started getting really suspicious results.Ive since been testing it on a straight 3m length of 2.5mm. On continuity it zeros fine but before reads around 1 ohm, then on testing the 3m lengh r1+r2 it always reads around 3 ohms. Ive tried I/R on 500v and keeping the cable bang down keep getting readings of 1.4M ohm and is around same when shorting leads and it regularly stops this test to tell me fuse has blown but checked them and they are fine? Ive had meter about a month brand new and since the first 7 ccts its not been right.
Anyone any ideas or heard of similar problems?

If you're getting values as high as 3 Ohms, I'd say you have a dodgy lead set, my Megger leads read 0.09 Ohms prior to zeroing.

Are they fused leads?

I dont think megger mft range fuse their leads. If they are you cant get to the fuse. Just tried mixing leads as only been using black and red so tried different combos with green lead,on continuity.Lowest reading on 3m cable is 4.14 ohms!

I must say, I've heard quite a few people complaining of problems with Megger's new MFT's. If you have all bases covered, leads, batteries, connections, probes etc, I suggest contacting Megger themselves with your concerns and see if they offer to help.

Ye not very happy with it at min, loved the 1552 version never had a problem.Im going to call the company i bought it from first as i think the 1 year warranty is with them.

Have you restored factory settings (RST) ?

I think so i changed the option to yes then turned off and tried again to no avail then just to make sure after turning to yes again i then just turned the dial to continuity without turn off in case the previous turn off wiped my reset factory setting

To save the change press the left LOCK button

To exit setup turn the right range knob away from spanner symbol

Just tried again, readings of 4.6 to 9 ohms.
Also as it sounds like you have the 1720,on continuity if i switch off and then back on with leads open the screen shows >99.9k but after a test or lead short it never returns to this with leads not connected it hovers around the 550 ohms mark. Does yours do this? Also on open leads for I/R i cant get more than 70M ohms. Whats yours show?
(Its been reset if that not clear above).
