was having a look at megger MFT and was just wondering, is buying one without calbration a really bad idea or is it just a case of getting it calibrated ?

Does it work in all modes? how much is it? if it's to cheap be careful tell the seller you will pay for calibration, if it's OK then you're good to go, but you're taking a chance either way.

im not sure waiting for a message back from the seller as its on eBay, they have a old calbration cert that run out last year may,

Don't use ebay that much, but I'm sure there is a method of getting youre hard earned money back if you aren't satisfied

Pity he didn't show the MFT with it switched on in differing modes, lets wait until he replies to your message

was is roughly the going price for a megger 1552 anyways don't wanna pay over the odds

The list price is about ÂŁ1K why not ask one of the forum sponsors test-meter.co.uk, so if it's OK you wont be paying over the odds, has the seller replied yet?

didn't know could do that cheers mate, looks like they go from ÂŁ200-ÂŁ400 for the near enough new ones with everything. No the seller has replied yet just noticed about the no returns which puts abit of doubt there

I would give it a wide berth Elliot, no returns, like you said looks iffy, not saying it is but?

Maybe he just buys and sells so wouldn't know if it's ok or not.. Got to weigh up what it would cost for a repair if it's not right and take that into account if you make a bid... Mine was a similar auction to that one and it turned out ok. You're pretty well protected with PayPal anyway and even though he says no returns PayPal always finds in a buyers favour of you follow all the rules in a dispute
