As title suggests wondering how many people have come across this on micc cable being used but no earth continuity as the copper back box seems to of been cut to allow cables in so no earth at any fittings?

It probably is earthed. That looks like the special type of box for plaster-depth MICC with a saddle clamp that goes round the cable the other side of the pot where you can't see it. Whether the connection is maintainable is another question as it is behind the plaster...

I done a efl and wasn't getting anything error 4 what's people's opinions on wiring some smokes from spoke to elecsa who advised me not to but what's others opinions ?

MICC would not have been installed without earth continuity through the sheath, so it'll be one or more faulty connections somewhere. Check the continuity to the pot. If it's OK, excavate / clean / tighten the clamp. If not, it might be a loose clamp at another fitting.

Yup. I can't see the pot too clearly but assume it's imperial cable? That would have an impact on the strategy needed if a seal failed while tinkering around with the fittings to get continuity.

No the pot seems further in the box so I really don't think the pot has ever been clamped hopefully this is a better pic and yeah old imperial size

That looks exactly how the MICC should be clamped. Check Earth at the sheath first, if not go back to the start where the M.I. is fed from and look the problem.
