hi there dont know if this in right section (if not sorry) but is there a way to put w/v as in line under w with v under the line. also is there a way to put the adibatic symbol trying to do some cable calcs for a project, and would like to print them as my writeing is terrible.
anythink you think could help me would be great.

Or, if you use the totally free and utterly brilliant Open Office (Mozilla), it's built in already!

Not just the symbol set, it has an in built formula writer that presents the equation in it's standard format - you just type (for example) V over I * R and it does a pretty little thing for you. And it's powerful enough to link in with the spreadsheet package (better than excel) where if you use cell values it'll work it out for you, too!

I honestly want to know why I paid all that money to M-shaft for, for DECADES (yes, really) when this is free and wipes the floor with them. Can you tell I'm a convert?!

Sorry to the OP - not very helpful at the moment to your cause but I reckon by the time you've messed about with MS Office you could have downloaded Open Office, installed, opened your existing MS files, done what you need to do AND have a coffee. :rockon2:

Can people with word, open 'Open Office' files, or do they also have to have 'Open Office'?

In Open, you select your choice of default file formats to save in, and it will open pretty much everything. So I have all my defaults set to the MS equivalents (.doc/.docx/.xls etc) and I exchange files with clients all the time, no one has ever had any problems.

In Open, you get: Word processor (Word look a like), spreadsheet (Excel look a like), database (Access look a like), presentation (Powerpoint look a like) and a drawing program I've yet to use.

They are separate windows in their own right, and each one looks more like the MS version than the MS version. But when, for example, in the word bit, you ask for a new file it gives you the option of all the apps, not just the word flavours.

I now don't use a single bit of MS software apart from windows itself, not because I've anything against them but because there are genuinely better and free alternatives. Browser = Firefox, Email = Thunderbird, Office = Open Office. Oh, and as for Windows, if OS/2 were still alive today......... [waits for someone to say the word 'linux'....]

Yeh - Spin, I know, I know. Just not sure I've the time or energy to make the learning curve anymore - getting old and set in my ways!! Bring back DOS. Actually, no, don't, bring back PC/M.
